Clock - Guilmet & Marti, Paris, 8-day clock in a highly unusual design of a man using a large band saw, striking and repeating on the hour and half hour, circa 1895, gilt and silvered brass case and Marmo Nero Belgio marble base, clever design elements include use of the saw as the pendulum and a travel option where you can lock the pendulum in place, measures 15.75"h (to highest point) x 13.25"w x 6.25"d, gilt dial, KW-hand-set, twin barrel mvt with compound pendulum, "Médaille D'Or Bte SGDG CLT" stamped on gilt mvt, s#1597. Weighs approximately 22lbs. Comes with a key. Truly a unique and clever design for a clock perfect for the machinist or collector to enjoy and display. NOTE: While this lot will be available for preview at the auction location and may be picked up there on auction day, no shipping is available. Arranging shipping of this property is the responsibility of the buyer. Buyer may work with any independent shipper or Jones & Horan can recommend one. CONDITION: Mvt: NR, ticks for less than a minute and then stops, fully wound, good repeat and strike function and tone aside from hands being three minutes out of index for both hour and half hour, overhaul needed, mvt appears to be very slightly askew as 12 on dial side is very slightly angled to the left, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, relatively clean plates, lead solder repair visible on parts of the movement; excellent dial with some paint loss to most of its numerals, fine scratch above 5; fine hands; case shows little wear, few dings along base edges, uneven toning to back plate area, screw missing to rear support arch (located in front of machinist's leg); excellent beveled glass crystal with few fine scratches.
